Transport, 49th Battalion (E.R.)

George Swanson enlisted on the first day of recruitment in Edmonton in early 1915. Initially assigned to "B" Company, he was later attached to the Canadian Machine Gun Corps during the Battle of Sanctuary Wood in June 1916 before returning to the 49th Battalion (E.R.) several week later. He served continuously until armistice with both "B" Company and the Transport Section. After the war he, stayed in touch with his old comrades. Initially moving to British Columbia, he later returned to Edmonton where he passed away in 1951.
