"B" Company, 49th Battalion (E.R.)
William Miller Brewster enlisted into the 49th Battalion (E.R.) during the first day of recruitment in 1915. Deploying to Flanders later that year, he was subsequently wounded during the Sanctuary Wood counter-attack in June 1916. Invalided to England, he would never again return to France. Upon recovery, he was later assigned to Argyle House in London and in December 1918 participated in the retrieval of 49th Battalion (E.R.) colours from Canterbury Cathedral. He was discharged in 1919 and died in London, England a decade later.
