"C" Company, 49th Battalion (E.R.)
Joseph Watson enlisted in the 49th Battalion (E.R.) in 1915 and fought overseas at Ypres and the Somme. On the night of the 22nd - 23rd of September, a salvo of shells struck the "C" Company lines at Albert. Watson was mortally struck with shrapnel wounds to the head and arms and died of his wounds several hours later at the 49th Casualty Clearing Station at Contay, France.
