"B" Company, 49th Battalion (E.R.)
Hugh Martin Stratton enlisted into the 49th Battalion (E.R.) in 1915. Serving overseas in Flanders, he was wounded by shrapnel to the wrist in February 1916. He was invalided to England and discharged as medically unfit several months later. After the war, Stratton became a prominent golfer in Western Canada but tragically died in 1926 aged 35. His death was deemed to be related to his service in the Great War.
