432412 Sergeant Ernest Tomlins

Ernest Tomlins enlisted into the 49th Battalion (E.R.) in 1915. Badly wounded during the Sanctuary Wood counter-attack in June 1916, he was invalided to England. After the armistice, he was part of the official colour party to retrieve the battalion's colours from Canterbury Cathedral. He passed away in 1974.
