446382 Private Charles D. Renshaw
"B" Company, 49th Battalion (E.R.)
Charles David Renshaw joined the 49th Battalion (E.R.) in Flanders in February 1916. During the fighting at Courcelette that September, a explosion nearby caused some of the cartridges he was carrying to explode and fragment. He was slightly wounded in the process. Moments later, a large shell exploded close by knocking him out of consciousness by concussion. He was evacuated to hospital. He would later again be wounded near Passchendaele on the 28th of October 1917. Renshaw survived the war and passed away in 1963.
