"A" Company, 49th Battalion (E.R.)

Albert Turner joined the 49th Battalion (E.R.) in France in December 1916. He served as a Lewis Gunner before transferring to the Canadian Machine Gun Corps in the spring of 1918. During the Hundred Days Offensive, Turner’s courage under fire earned him the Military Medal for bravery. He survived the war and settled in Lang Bay, British Columbia, where he lived a quiet life until his death in 1969.
