"C" Company, 49th Battalion (E.R.)

Frank Munro joined the 49th Battalion (E.R.) in France in January 1918. On the night of August 13th, "C" Company was to assault German trenches North of Parvillers. Soon after the attack commenced, heavy resistence was encountered and the attack transformed into a close quarter trench fight. While assaulting a German sap north of the village, he was struck by a sniper’s bullet and killed instantly. With no known grave, he is commemorated on the Vimy Memorial.
