811512 Private Sidney Smith

Sidney Smith immigrated to Canada with his family in 1910. Six years later he enlisted into the Canadian Expeditionary Force and later joined the 49th Battalion (E.R.) in France in late 1916. He was reported Missing in Action following the battalion's attack at Passchendaele two days after his 20th birthday. He was part of the first wave. His body was never found.
