Family: Archie Ferguson
Archie Ferguson, a machine gunner in "C" Company was one of the few survivors from his gun crew. He was from Tofield, Alberta.
Many thanks to the family of Private Archie Ferguson of Tofield, Alberta, for travelling to Edmonton today to reconnect with their 49th Battalion (Edmonton Regiment) heritage. Archie Ferguson is depicted in the iconic 1918 photograph of "C" Company's machine gunners at Saint Hilaire. More than a century later, it is arguably the most iconic photograph of Fortyniners in France during the Great War.
