A special thank you to the grandson and great grandson of original Fortyniner Private Frank Pilkie MiD, a member of the 49th Battalion (Edmonton Regiment)’s elite Scout Section, for visiting the Regimental Museum today.

In a few weeks, a large group of the Pilkie family will travel to France to retrace the footsteps of their grandfather on the battlefields of the Great War. It was an honour to help them connect with his story before their journey.

Thank you as well to Collections Manager Kathleen Haggarty for alerting the Association to their upcoming trip and for helping arrange this special visit to the museum.

Moments like these are a powerful reminder that the legacy of the Fortyniners continues to live on through their families. Lest we forget.
