Harold Drabble
"D" Company, 49th Battalion (Edmonton Regiment)

A barrister and Boer War veteran, Harold Drabble left a promising career to accept a commission with the 49th Battalion (E.R.). He would be badly wounded and shell shocked during the Sanctuary Wood counter-attack in June 1916.
After several months in hospital, he returned to France. Continually plagued by poor health brought on by trench conditions, Drabble was sent back to England in April 1917. He was ultimately discharged as medically unfit.
