John William Lamb

"A" Company, 49th Battalion (Edmonton Regiment)

John William Lamb lost his life during the Battle of Passchendaele in 1917. He was an original member of the 49th Battalion (E.R.), but was discharged before leaving Canada on grounds of being unlikely to become an efficient soldier.

He reenlisted in Winnipeg and served with the 8th Battalion (Winnipeg Rifles) until his death at the front. With no known grave, he is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial to the missing in Ypres, Belgium.
