Lieutenant A.H. Cantin DCM MM

Memoir 1972

An original member of the 49th Battalion (E.R.), Alf Cantin enlisted at the age of 15. By the end of the war, he was an officer and amongst the most decorated in the battalion.

Private J.B. Hayfield

Private Diary 1918-1919

A career criminal who upon his early release enlisted, he reached the 49th Battalion (Edmonton Regiment) after his brother was killed at Passchendaele in 1917.

Private H.O. Palmer

Memoir 1936

Orville Palmer enlisted with his brother in 1915. He risked his life to rescue his badly wounded brother at Regina Trench in 1916 and would go onto serve until Mons in 1918.

A Swede by birth, Tony immigrated to Canada before the Great War. He enlisted in 1915 and served overseas in the transport section.

Memoir 1932-1945

Reggie had enlisted with his brother Edwin in 1915. Initially serving as a Signaller, following his brother's death in 1916, Reggie transferred to the Transport.
